FADE Africa's World Environment Day Celebrations

As the world over marked World Environment Day which is celebrated every year on the 5th of June, we explored different ways to anchor on the theme of this year; "Connecting People to Nature".

On the 17th of June, in commemoration of the day, we organized an interactive dialogue in collaboration with United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNAN) on the 17th of June at DIDI Museum with Amb Ayo Olukanni delivering a brief lecture on the theme to kick-start the conversation.

In attendance were students from various secondary school across Lagos who made presentations on the importance of the environment and ways to engage people in its preservation/protection. Also present were friends of the environment from all walks of life.

We were also privileged to partner with FABE International Foundation to connect with nature on the 14th of June as over 100 students participated in their annual Green Challenge to commemorate WED with this year's event being tagged “Art4Nature”. 12 schools participated in the art competition with truly amazing art works that were screened by selected judges who worked together to pick the winners of the day.

Ifako International School bagged 1st place, followed by Reagan Memorial Baptist School with 2nd place and Refiners School with 3rd place.

The event was jointly organized with Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and Lufasi Nature Park, where the event took place.
